The most rewarding part of being a bridal designer:

Knowing that I contributed to making the bride’s wedding day so memorable and meaningful.

Can you tell us about your background in fashion design and how you got into designing wedding dresses?

I grew up surrounded by bread and fashion. My grandmother, also named Caterina, and my mother, Paola, taught me the art of good taste, attention to detail, and respect for what everyone in the Neapolitan atelier defines as a true heritage of humanity: the invaluable seamstresses.

After studying styling at IED in Rome and spending five years in London as a buyer for Isabel Marant and Céline, I returned home to Naples to support the family business, which was facing well-known difficulties due to COVID-19. It was not an easy choice, but it brought me great satisfaction.

What makes a wedding dress so special, and why do you believe it is important for a bride to invest in a one-of-a-kind wedding dress?

A wedding dress is special because it represents much more than just a piece of clothing: it embodies a dream, the symbol of a unique and unrepeatable moment in a person's life. I believe it's essential for a bride to invest in a one-of-a-kind wedding dress because it not only expresses her personality and style but also makes her feel truly unique and special on the most important day of her life.

In Italy, the tailoring tradition is deeply rooted and renowned worldwide for its excellence. I grew up immersed in this culture of quality and attention to detail, which has profoundly influenced my approach to creating wedding dresses. Italian tailoring is synonymous with craftsmanship, precision, and passion—values that I strive to infuse into each of my projects. A custom-made wedding dress, crafted from exquisite fabrics with meticulous care, not only celebrates elegance and beauty but also becomes a piece of personal history, a precious memory to cherish forever.

Which wedding dress styles do you enjoy designing the most – vintage or modern, simple or opulent?

I enjoy designing wedding dresses that strike a balance between vintage and modern styles, always maintaining an elegant simplicity without being overly opulent. Our brand stands out for using high-quality fabrics that speak for themselves, creating refined and timeless dresses that enhance the bride without excess.

Do you have a favourite era or inspiration that you often draw from in your designs?

Yes, my favourite era that often inspires me is the Renaissance. I am particularly fascinated by this historical period for its cultural, artistic, and intellectual richness. One of the elements I love the most is flowers, which were widely represented in Renaissance art and gardens. Flowers symbolise beauty, purity, and the transience of life. They were often featured in paintings, architectural decorations, and fabrics of the time, reflecting a deep connection with nature and its perfection.

Furthermore, Renaissance fashion is an endless source of inspiration. The clothing of that period was characterized by luxurious fabrics, vibrant colours and intricate details, such as embroidery, lace and jewels. Women's dresses, with their elegant silhouettes and voluminous skirts, and men's attire, with refined jackets and cloaks, not only expressed the aesthetic taste of the time but also the social status and personality of those who wore them. These elements of Renaissance fashion inspire me to create projects that celebrate elegance, attention to detail, and timeless beauty.

What materials and techniques do you favour in your designs?

I prefer to use materials of the highest excellence from Italy and France. These exquisite fabrics not only guarantee the highest quality but also carry with them a tradition of refinement and craftsmanship that is hard to find elsewhere.

One of the distinctive techniques in my projects is the handcrafted cutwork and embroidered veils, a traditional craft that is, unfortunately, disappearing in Italy. Each veil is a unique masterpiece, created with care and passion. When brides see our veils, they are always enchanted, recognizing the beauty and mastery behind every detail. These veils are true heirlooms, adding a timeless touch of elegance to be cherished and making each dress even more special.

How do you handle challenging situations, such as a bride who is unsure about her dress design or changes her mind?

Handling these kind of situations is an essential part of my job. The key to addressing these situations is establishing open and empathetic communication with the clients. Listening carefully to their concerns, desires, and expectations is crucial to understanding what makes them happy and satisfied. When a bride is unsure about the dress style or changes her mind, I work with her to explore available options.

I can suggest modifications to the original design, propose alternatives that better reflect her tastes, or even create new proposals that might inspire her. It's important to maintain an environment of trust and collaboration where the bride feels free to express her preferences without judgment. Furthermore, during the dress creation process, I frequently update the bride on progress and consult with her regularly to ensure that every detail is perfect according to her expectations. This approach allows me to address any changes in opinion constructively and ensure that the bride is ultimately happy with her dream dress.

Can you share a particularly memorable dress you've created for a bride?

The pois dress is the dress that made us known worldwide. It will always be a special dress for us.

What is your advice for handling and preserving the dress after the wedding?

After the wedding, it is advisable to take the wedding dress to a professional for dry cleaning. It's important to remove any stains or traces of dirt properly to preserve the fabric over time.

Can you describe a day in the life at your bridal atelier?

Starting from tailoring, a day in my bridal atelier begins with preparing the materials and tools needed for the day's work. Throughout the day, I oversee my team of seamstresses, each with years of experience and truly unique women! Then, I move on to creating and altering wedding dresses. I use traditional craftsmanship techniques such as precise fabric cutting and meticulous assembly of dress parts. Every detail, from seams to embroidery, is executed with care to ensure that the dress is not only aesthetically impeccable but also comfortable and well-structured for the bride.

A crucial aspect of the day is meeting with brides for fittings. During these sessions, I see how the dress takes shape on the client's body and make any adjustments to ensure that it fits perfectly and best expresses her personality and style. In addition to creating dresses, I also provide personalized consultations with brides. I listen to their ideas, suggest creative solutions, and offer advice based on my experience in the bridal fashion industry. This dialogue is essential for fully understanding their expectations and ensuring that the overall experience in my atelier is positive and satisfying.

Finally, the day ends with reflecting on progress made and future projects. I always strive to keep the spirit of innovation alive by exploring new trends and techniques that can further enrich my offering of unique and distinctive wedding dresses.

In summary, starting from tailoring, every day in my atelier is characterized by a passion for craftsmanship, precision in execution and dedication to creating wedding dresses that exceed the expectations of my clients and represent an unforgettable symbol of their special day.

What is the most rewarding part of your job as a bridal designer?

The most rewarding part of my job is definitely seeing the happiness and emotion of brides on their wedding day. When a bride wears one of my dresses and feels beautiful and confident, it's truly a special moment for me.

However, what makes my job even more rewarding is the positive feedback and congratulations I receive after the wedding. When brides and their entourage share with me the happy moments of their special day, showing me photos and videos of the ceremony and celebration, it's an indescribable emotion. Knowing that I contributed to making that day so memorable and meaningful for them is my greatest reward. The day after the wedding, when I receive those calls or messages of thanks, is when I truly feel fulfilled in my work. It's an incredible encouragement to continue creating dresses that not only meet the expectations of brides but also make them feel truly special on the most important day of their lives.
