Wedding decor is often associated with floral arrangements, bouquets on the dinner tables, and elsewhere in the wedding venue. Roses, graceful callas, and fragrant lilies create a wonderful festive atmosphere, still, a wedding without flowers can also look beautiful and festive. The best wedding decorators can create fabulous compositions using a variety of textures, colours, and materials, such as pebbles, greenery, and even shells, without the need for cut flowers – there are plenty of ideas and ways to make it possible.
Couples choose not to use flowers at weddings for a variety of reasons. In cases where someone is allergic to pollen, flowers can spoil the joy of the celebration, especially in small and poorly ventilated rooms. Others want to be original and create an unusual festive atmosphere without flowers.
Maybe the wedding is in the winter when seasonal flowers are not available, or the couple thinks green and prefers reusable decorations.
Cut flowers have a short lifetime and are often imported from other countries. That certainly disagrees with the principles of a sustainable wedding. Also, small elopement or pop-up wedding floral decorations are not crucial and can be successfully replaced or not used at all.
In cases where the couple has chosen not to use fresh flowers for wedding decorations, they can be replaced with dried flowers, grain spikes, or artificial flowers. They will be much more durable, will not wither during the day, and you can reuse them. It is possible to rent decorative artificial flower walls, compositions, and decors that will create the atmosphere.
It is common for wedding guests to give flowers to a couple, but in recent years this tradition has become less apparent. Sometimes couples choose to indicate in the invitation that they don't expect flowers. There can be various reasons for this too.
One of the most popular – going on a honeymoon shortly after the wedding day. In this case, the newlyweds will not be able to enjoy the flowers. Instead of flowers, guests can bring candles to decorate the wedding venue or some good wine.
The wonderful atmosphere of rural romanticism can be created by using arrangements in beige, brown, and yellow tones instead of flowers. Wooden decor, macramé, linen napkins and tablecloths, and compositions of dried flowers will look great together.
Less is more
Minimalism has been trending in interior design, fashion, and other areas of life for a long time and will not leave us so soon. Unless you intend to fascinate your guests with extravagant and grandiose decorations for your wedding venue, you can consider this visually aesthetic style as one of the options.
Minimalism is characterized by clean lines, empty spaces, calming colours, and ascetic decorations. Flowers are not necessary to create the desired atmosphere. Instead, choose tablecloths of different textures, monochrome colour candles, and candlesticks in a contrasting colour.
